The International Business Case Competition is annually hosted by Georgia State University's Center for International Business Education and Research (GSU-CIBER). During the event, students from several universities are placed in groups to solve a real-world business problem. The competition provides students with the opportunity of networking as well as gaining insights on real-world business issues.
Students are assigned to teams of four students. The requirement is that each student at the team is from a different university and majoring in a distinct field area. This allows students to work through multiple cross-cultural obstacles, including different study habits, learning methods, and even diverse university cultures. The fields represented during the Case Competition are Finance, Accounting, Marketing, as well as Management and Operations.
The International Business Case Competition hosted by GSU-CIBER is funded by the U.S. Department of Education with a goal of mounting the competitiveness in the global market. The competition not only allows students to work together in teams, but it also prepares them to enter the global job market, in which they will be confronted by actual business problems.
